Hector's Bothy

Café | Bar | Takeaway

The word ‘bothy’ means a ‘friendly house’ - traditionally a welcome rest from the elements where food and shelter were offered to travellers. Derived from the Gaelic "Am Bothan" (which means small house or hut), a bothy is also place of refuge for shepherds or hill-walkers caught out on the hills by bad weather. They are normally found in remote, mountainous areas and are particularly common in the Highlands of Scotland. Rain or shine, we hope you will enjoy our version of The Bothy - a traditional friendly house right in the middle of Kyle of Lochalsh.

We are also now fully licensed and are able offer our customers a choice of value for money wines, locally brewed ales and a selection of international brand spirits including some of the most popular brands of Scotch malt whisky. Don’t forget to try our Gaelic Coffee which is the perfect indulgent treat to be enjoyed either inside the Bothy or in our fabulous outdoor seating area from which the breathtaking views of Loch Alsh can be enjoyed all year round. The Bothy is also now pleased to offer a full evening menu which showcases some of the best local flavours from select and trusted local suppliers.

Local chef Laura and her team are delighted to be able to offer evening guests a taste of the Highlands and Islands on their plate.  Whether you are looking for a full meal, snack or just a cosy booth to enjoy a glass of wine with friends we think we will have what you are looking for.
