Hector’s Plaice is delighted to report that building work has commenced on the new takeaway premises in the Old Post Office building on Main Street, Kyle. The premises are currently being renovated by a team led by R Morrison and Son of Kyleakin, Isle of Skye and it is hoped they will be open for trade by the end of August. As well as all the existing favourites, the new premises will also sell an expanded selection of locally sourced ice-cream, delicious freshly made pizzas, together with hand made sandwiches, rolls and soup for takeaway.
Hector, Mhairi and all the staff are really excited about the new premises which will feature the very latest innovation in fryers to ensure every single portion of fish and chips tastes just perfect! The name of the chip shop will also be changing to reflect the wider variety of product so watch this space for details on the new name, for further updates on the opening date and special opening offers!

Hectors Plaice and Bothy are putting Kyle on the map! Folllowing our acquisiton of the Old Post Office Building in Main Street Kyle last year (which, subject to planning, we are intending to turn into an extended fish and chip shop and takeaway) the BBC1 Programme 'Homes Under the Hammer' have been filming the progress made in renovating the building to allow the takeaway element of the business to move to the new premises in Spring of 2011. The programme is being broadcast at 10 am on Monday 31st January. You'll find a photo of Mhairi and Hector with Martin Roberts, the presenter of 'Homes under the Hammer' in the gallery.
The programme follows the work undertaken in renovating the flat above the new premises and our exciting plans for not only a new and improved Fish & Chip Shop / Takeaway but also our proposals to extend the very popular Hectors Bothy Cafe and give it a whole new look and outside seating area. It is planned to double the size of the existing cafe which will help us serve both our loyal local customers and visitors to the area in a more spacious and modern environment.
Both Mhairi and Hector, the owners of the business, feature along with Mhairi's brother and sister Euan and Rona who bought the property at auction for them in Edinburgh. Everyone at Hector's 2 Go and Bothy is very excited about the plans so please watch this space for further updates as the works progress!
